P.S. As a side note, students will not be able to bring home their opinion writing rough drafts or final copies to work on it.  I have given the students a fair timeline to complete their work, and it all must be done in class.  Please do not ask your child to bring home their rough draft, as I will not grade any papers that leave the classroom to be worked on.  This is to improve their work efficiency as well as their independence, and ability to collaborate with their peers.  Thank you!

Reading-we are reading a scholastic news.  In class, students must complete 5 close reading questions as well as the "Be a Quiz Whiz" multiple choice activity.

Math-Students are continuing to practice their division strategies, but have begun moving into word problems where they will need to interpret the remainder.  

Writing-Students will complete their rough draft of their opinion writing by Friday.

Tomorrow is Teacher Tales at Barnes and Nobles!

Please join us on December 3rd, to ring in the holiday season!   Teasley teachers and staff will read some of their favorite holiday books to students.  If you buy a book during this time, a teacher will gift wrap it for you, free of charge!  A portion of the proceeds will be given back to Teasley.  Teacher Tales will be held at Barnes and Noble, located at 2952 Cobb Parkway, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Be on the look out for a flyer that tells you when certain teachers will be reading and wrapping!

Homework and classwork for week of 11/30

Classwork

Math

Students are working on division.  View my previous blog post for videos and examples on partial quotients.  It is very different from standard algorithm.

Reading

This week, we are working on constructed response questions in class.  We worked on annotating the article today, and will be looking at the article again tomorrow.  Tomorrow, we will also look deeply at questions, and use the RACE strategy to answer the questions.  Students will have a quick check assessment on Thursday or Friday which will require them to answer 3 constructed response questions about the passage we are reviewing in class.

Writing

We have started our research and graphic organizers for our opinion writing.  We will be starting our rough draft's on Thursday.  Please check in with your child and ask them what they are writing their opinion piece about, some of them are very interesting and unique!

Science

We just finished our unit on force and motion.  Students took a pop quiz on Monday, so be on the look out for those grades.
