Week of March 2nd-Read Across America

Hi Parents,

I hope you enjoyed our "snow days" with your children last week!  This week we are working very hard.  Here are a few notes about this week.

We have been learning how to measure angles in math using protractors.  I do not have enough protractors to send one home with each child, I would greatly appreciate if you could purchase one for your child.  You can find them at the dollar tree, Wal-mart, or target, and I am sure more places sell them as well.  They are not to expensive and it would greatly help if your child could practice measuring angles at home.

In writing, students are finishing their literacy essays.  Their final draft, rough draft, and pre-writing  are due on Thursday, March 5.  Students will have time in class but will also need to working at home.  Final drafts can be hand written or typed and must include a picture.

In reading we are actively working on comparing and contrasting using a story called "Could this Doll Hurt You?"  Students should be reading this at night.

For science, students are learning about the moon phases.  There is a song on our edmodo which the students can listen to to memorize the phases.  They are also keeping a tracker in their interactive notebook this week of what the moon looks like each night.

This weeks spelling words are from sort 22.  There test and spelling contract are due on Thursday March 5.
