Dear
Parents/Guardians,
We
are currently working on a project in writing, and I am SO excited about it! Our project is based on the people of
Colonial America. Each student chose a
specific type of person (Landowners, artisans, women, slaves, farmers,
indentured servants, or Native Americans) to research. Using their research, students will write a
speech about their person’s surroundings, occupation, and leisure
activities.
Speeches
will be due on Friday, January 15, 2016, and presentations will begin that day. We will be presenting the speeches in a wax
museum. This means that half of the
class will present on the 19th and the other half on the 20th. Students
need to dress up as their person.
They can be creative with dressing up.
Goodwill has good clothes to get for projects like this, but students
can also find a way to use clothes they already have, or draw their costume on
a poster board and hang it around their neck; be creative! On the day of
their presentation, students will need to wear standard attire and bring their ‘costume’
to change in to. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.
Thank
you for all of your support,
Laura
